Without a rear hook, the hook-up rate seems poor, but with a treble hook, snags are frequent. This very short single hook solves that problem. The hook is the same as the Twin Pike DJ-88, the "Pike AS-03," which is popular for its quick hook-up and holding power, and fully supports light jigging. The eye has more freedom than a fixed-eye single hook, further preventing the fish from getting off and supporting hook-ups. The "Short Pike DJ-77" can be used in a variety of ways, including as a rear or front hook for shore casting and jigging, as well as for pier jigging and as a set for enticing pencil baits.
